December 13th 2008  -  Well I will ramble because I can't sleep. Ethan is sleeping for the first time (that we know of) on his stomach. Its not by our choice, but when we put him down in his crib on his back like good parents, he rolls over before we can even get to the door. So we checked on him a few times over a 30 minute period and he seems to be sleeping better than he ever did on his back. So that was 3 hours ago and I am still up. I have checked on him no fewer than 10 times and he is still good. I have been reading a lot of junk online, but the main thing I am reading is that if they are 6 months or older and can roll both ways (to and from stomach) then they are able to move themselves if they can't breath. The last one that makes me feel pretty good was from Kidshealth.org and it said

When babies start rolling over on their own, usually around 4 to 7 months, they may change their position when sleeping. At this point, there's no need to frantically keep flipping your snoozing baby back onto the back — it's perfectly normal and OK for older infants to roll onto their sides or bellies by themselves as they sleep.

So I will probably check on him till 1pm or later and then try and get a few hours of sleep. May the lord watch over Ethan tonight

October 23rd 2008  -  Sorry its been a while since I have updated Ethan's site. I will be posting a bunch of new pictures soon, and I am working on a deal where I can post pictures a lot easier so I will be able to do it more often. Today Ethan is 20 weeks old. That seems like forever. He is over 17lbs now and over 26 inches long. WOW!!! Molly and I were talking and when we brought him home and put him on the diaper changing pad he looked so little, and now we have to pull it totally out so his feet don't hang off the end of it. Its just amazing how fast time flys.

August 20th 2008  -  Good Morning, last night I put a few more pictures for everyone to enjoy. Ethan Started Daycare August 13th and he really enjoys it. The two women who run the daycare are great with him and the kids there just adore him. Molly was telling me that one of the little girls there made her dad wait to leave at night until she cleaned a little spitup from Ethans mouth because she had put herself in charge of watching over Ethan in the afternoon that day. So Molly and the little girls father waited... Thats a great reason why we think Ethan is really going to do well there TTFN

July 31st 2008  -  Well I have been Slacking on posting pictures to the site. But on the good side Molly has been taking a lot of pictures so at least we have some. I should be posting a bunch of pictures this weekend.

June 23rd 2008  -  Well he is official. Ethan got his Social Security card in the Mail today.

June 21st 2008  -  We have posted new pictures from this two week birthday. Molly had some fun with him while he was sleeping and got some great pictures of him on a stuffed dog we have. Rather than sort out only the great pictures I posted them all... Hope you enjoy then Molly, Ethan, and Chad

June 16th 2008  -  Ethan, Molly, and Chad all went to Alders gate United Methodist Church this past Sunday to introduce Pastor Ron to Ethan. As most of you know Pastor Ron was the person who did Cameren’s funeral so it meant a lot to us for them to meet. We are pretty sure we want Pastor Ron to Baptize Ethan, however he retiring in 2 weeks so we need to figure out how to get that done after his retirement.

June 12th 2008  -  More Pictures to come soon. We are going to Hy-Vee to have 9 cent prints made of our pictures and figure out what new ones will look good on the website. Hang with me I will get more up soon Molly, Ethan, and Chad

June 11th 2008  -  Well the Clock says 3 am once again. Ethan started throwing up all of his formula after his 7 pm feeding. Checked his temp and he was good there. We figured maybe he was just full or had a lot of gas (which he did). Molly stayed up with him until midnight trying a few times to get him to eat, which he did but tossed it all back up. Then the two of them fell asleep on the couch. Finally after 2 worried parents and the threat of calling our doctors after hours nurse he took a full 2 oz bottle and didn't give any back to me. He is back asleep now so hopefully he keeps progressing and Molly will be able to sleep tonight. Me on the other hand, well its my shift so I figured I would say hello to everyone and give the family a chance to fall asleep so I can check on them after their sleeping to make sure everything is in order.

June 10th 2008  -  Well Ethan slept through the night. We had to get up twice to feed him which is no big deal because 30 minutes later all three of us were sleeping again. Wow that was a great night. I know I can't expect to sit here and assume he will do that every night for us, but maybe even a few times a week to help us catch up on sleep. Ethan is doing very well. He is eating more, sleeping good, and is barely ever fussy. That is all for now, I need to get Molly to make a news post for watch for that. Even if I need to lock her in our office until she does

Love you all
Chad, Molly, and Ethan

June 9th 2008  -  Well like I was saying, he doesn't know day/night. My news page doesn't have a time stamp so I would just tell you its 3:30 am while I am typing this. He is sleeping I think... finally... But now is when I wait 15 minutes to make sure he is really sleeping and make sure his face is clear of his cloths and that he is still breathing. You know the first time overprotective parent deal. We are currently trying to figure out this whole feeding thing. Yesterday (Sunday) we were told he is suppose to get 2-3 oz every 3 hours, but the doctor had told us 1.5 at the most every 3-4. So we did more research and Mollys parents did some looking online and we determined that it should be 2-3oz every 3-4. So we have switched to giving him 2 oz every 3 hours and it has seemed to make him a little less fussy. That is until we switched to bottled water. For some reason bottled water mixed with the formula made him have a lot of gas and burps. Which isn't a big deal to us but it makes him uncomfortable, and we all know what babies do when they are uncomfortable.... So we are back to tap water and I think we are going to ditch the drop in bottles because they seem to put more air in his stomach than the even flo ones. I am sure this saga isn't over but for now it is because I am quite tired. The doctors office is suppose to call us to check in and answer any questions we have (feeding is on top of that list) and to make his 2 week checkup appointment.
Love you all thanks for the kind works
Molly, Ethan, and Chad

June 7th 2008  -  Today we brought Ethan home from the Hospital. All in all he is really a good baby. He doesn't understand the whole night day thing yet so he is fussy and awake from 7pm to about 3am but he does sleep really well the other times so if we can reverse him it should all work out soon... Wishful thinking I know. Molly, Ethan, and myself want to thank everyone for their kind words on Ethan's Playground page. Molly and I cry every time we read them. It means so much to us to know that we have friends and family that are there to help, confort, and support us through this blessing. Thanks again to everyone for everything it means the world to us.

June 5th 2008  -  Ethan was born @ 7:26 PM on Thursday June 5th 2008. He weighted 7lbs 8 oz and was 19.5 inches long. He is healthy and is passing all of his tests perfectly. He is eatting good and sleeps pretty decent, although Molly and I can't sleep because we just keep stareing at him thinking how amazing this all is

May 29th 2008  -  Molly, Ethan, and Chad had their last Ultrasound today. It was done by a student that really had no idea what she was doing. The weight only showed changing 1 oz in 2 weeks. But that isn’t an issue we are told because he could have just finished a growth time. We have set an induce date. June 5th, if Ethan hasn’t arrived already he will be arriving on that day. Spread the word

May 19th 2008  -  Today Ethan weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz.. He passed all of his tests that he and Molly go through. Molly is 1 centimeter dilated, 60% effaced. Her next appointment is May 29th. If she doesn't go into labor by then he will more than likely induce her so Ethan doesn't get to big. But he did say if she goes into labor before then, it would be fine, Ethan is healthy.

May 12th 2008  -  Molly went into the doctor today and Ethan got weighed. He currently weighs 6 lbs 10oz as of today. They guess that babies grow at around 5 oz a week so that’s about correct from his prior weight. He passed all of this motion and breathing tests again so that’s great. The doctor said he is going to watch Molly and Ethan very closely at every visit now to make sure he doesn't get to big.

More to come later

April 28th 2008  -  Molly has been going into the doctor’s office twice a week to do a Stress test. Ethan responds very well on all of his tests. There is a second doctor that is helping now and when she met Molly for the first time she told Molly we have a really good baby. He does very well.

On another note because of the diet Molly is actually 1 lb under his starting weight. Most people say that isn't good, however because Molly is following the diet setup by the hospital she is doing really well. He also said to keep on this diet after she gives birth and she will do really well.

April 20th 2008  -  Ethan and Molly have been going to a lot of appointments with the doctor to make sure he is doing well. Molly has been Diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and she is doing VERY well getting it under control. She has to test her blood 4 times a day and her numbers have leveled off.

She will have 2 appointments a week with the doctor until Ethan is ready to come out and play. Last week was the first week of this and Ethan is doing well with his tests. She has a Stress test where she clicks a button when she feels him move and it should correspond to a rise in his heart rate. Then the second appointment of the week is an ultrasound to make sure everything is progressing nicely and we have seen he is already starting to practice breathing so that's excellent.

Sorry it was so long since the last update, we will be doing more over the next few weeks I promise

April 13th 2008  -  Molly and I had Maternity pictures taken today. For most of the free world that doesn't know what those are, it's exactly what it sounds like. We had pictures taken with just Molly being pregnant and with both of us together.

February 6th 2008  -  Molly and Chad went to have our 22 Week Ultrasound done. The Head shape for the baby appears normal, the heart seems to be crossing blood correctly and the 4 chambers are good. Ethan's spine is closed and everything seems to be as it should be. Molly and I are very optismic and are very excited about our future with our soon to be son. Molly and I will try and spend some time writing here about the baby as much as we can.
